I HATE MY JOB
I AM STILL WORKING ON MY MAGAZINE, THOUGH. IN A PERFECT WORLD MY MAGAZINE WOULD BE SUCCESSFUL AND I COULD WORK FOR MYSELF. I'D ALSO BE AN AUTHOR AND A FREELANCE TRAVEL WRITER AND AN ACTOR.
IN A PERFECT WORLD.
I AM DREADING GOING TO WORK TOMORROW...I TOOK THE DAY OFF TODAY. I AM CRYING INSIDE...THAT IS HOW MUCH I FEEL ABOUT IT. THIS FEELING HAS BEEN INCREASING RAPIDLY EACH DAY FOR THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS.

I am slowly moving toward a more natural lifestyle both inside and out...
I signed up as an affiliate for the above site because I absolutely love the tips, help, resourcefulness, expertise that Karen Knowler has regarding raw food.

I am doing research and am reading Heal Thyself by Queen Afua and The Master Cleanser by Stanley Burroughs to further prepare myself mentally to slowly start moving in this direction on natural health and healing inside and out. I am even starting to incorporate natural makeup. When I return from the Czech Republic I will purchase some samples of makeup and give you all a review on how it compares to the Revlon's, CoverGirl's, IMAN's, etc.
One thing I am almost 100% natural with is with the hair products I use. I am almost there. Next I am trying to stop using face creams that have ingredients such as sodium laureth sulphate and alcohol, etc. I found a list on faithful-to-nature.co.za...I copied and pasted a few...to read the rest go to the site...its a long list...I suggest you print it out and carry it with you when you go shopping.
Parabens (Methyl, Propyl, Butyl and Ethyl)
98% or cosmetic products contain parabens. Parabens are endocrine disrupters which mean they may disturb the hormone balance in your body and can cause allergic reactions. British researchers found traces of it in twenty women who had breast cancer. Parabens are believed to act like the female hormone estrogen and high levels of estrogen can cause some women to develop breast cancer.
“The industry response is that these chemicals have been cleared for use by the relevant authorities (FDA and ECC) and have been used for decades. The link between smoking and cancer took 50 years to gain public support. Health concerns raised by the Parabens will hopefully be recognized sooner.” (Taken from esse.co.za )
Propylene Glycol (PEG)
It is one of the most common ingredients in cosmetics and is highly controversial. Many say it is a harmful irritant known to cause damage to the kidneys whilst a few believe it is safe. But consider this: the Material Safety Data Sheet for propylene glycol warns workers handling this chemical to avoid skin contact.
Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfate
A known skin irritant and enhances allergic response to other toxins and allergens. The chemical can react with other ingredients to form cancer-causing nitrosamines. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is used as a lathering agent. It is present in ninety per cent of commercial shampoos, as well as skin creams and some brands of toothpaste. It was found to be safe by the CIR expert panel in the 1980’s but new information is being considered as to the safety of the ingredient.
Diethanolamine (DEA), Triethanolamine (TEA), Monoethanolamine (MEA)
In 1999 a National Toxicology Program found an association between cancer and tumors in laboratory animals and the application of diethanolamine (DEA) and certain DEA-related ingredients to their skin. The FDA is still considering legal actions. As the study used a pure concentration of the ingredient it has been debated as to whether there is any real cause for concern...
Until then...

Do you remember Tracie Spencer?
I wonder what she is up to? She was a very different artist because she sang songs not only about love but about homelessness and she did a remake of a John Lennon song: Imagine that I sang accappella when I was in high school. I blogged about on April 10th of 2008 ( http://diaryofashyblackwoman.blogspot.com/2008/04/lets-talk.html ).
The article that I found spoke about a open mic with comedians performing and one comedian they mentioned is Tracie Spencer...I wonder if that's the same Tracie Spencer...the singer. Here is the link to the article from a Vermont publication for anyone who is interested in cracking this case with me. lol.

Michelle Williams from Destiny's Child
I broke the dawn tonight because of my insomnia...Ha Ha...You get it? The title of the song is We break the Dawn...okay it wasn't that funny....lol.
Thanks DannieCleo
I just learned from DannieCleo that the above site is doing a Youtube video project...like a documentary of sorts. I've been looking for a documentary so this is very helpful right now!
I am researching...
I will let you know how its working.
***I did extensive research online before I even thought of taking these natural remedies so if you are thinking of doing the same PLEASE do your research and consult with your doctor as well.
Later on I will research Kava Kava and later oxytocin because I read an interesting story on the latter today over here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1028462/Scientists-childbirth-wonder-drug-cure-shyness.html
Oh by the way it is 4:20AM and I have not gone to sleep yet...furthermore I went to bed for about 4 hours yesterday. St. John's Wort and 5-HTP is suppose to be beneficial for insomnia as well so I will find out in the coming weeks if its working.
Also, have you heard of fybromyalgia? Google it and let's share thoughts on this. I have aches and pains and am now starting to wonder...
Here is some info to help you research the topics I mentioned:
I TELL MY BOYFRIEND ALL THE TIME THAT "I AM THE REAL PRINCESS"...LOL

There was once a prince, and he wanted a princess, but then she must be a real Princess. He travelled right around the world to find one, but there was always something wrong. There were plenty of princesses, but whether they were real princesses he had great difficulty in discovering; there was always something which was not quite right about them. So at last he had come home again, and he was very sad because he wanted a real princess so badly.
One evening there was a terrible storm; it thundered and lightninged and the rain poured down in torrents; indeed it was a fearful night.
In the middle of the storm somebody knocked at the town gate, and the old King himself sent to open it.
It was a princess who stood outside, but she was in a terrible state from the rain and the storm. The water streamed out of her hair and her clothes; it ran in at the top of her shoes and out at the heel, but she said that she was a real princess.
'Well we shall soon see if that is true,' thought the old Queen, but she said nothing. She went into the bedroom, took all the bed clothes off and laid a pea on the bedstead: then she took twenty mattresses and piled them on top of the pea, and then twenty feather beds on top of the mattresses. This was where the princess was to sleep that night. In the morning they asked her how she slept.
'Oh terribly bad!' said the princess. 'I have hardly closed my eyes the whole night! Heaven knows what was in the bed. I seemed to be lying upon some hard thing, and my whole body is black and blue this morning. It is terrible!'
They saw at once that she must be a real princess when she had felt the pea through twenty mattresses and twenty feather beds. Nobody but a real princess could have such a delicate skin.
So the prince took her to be his wife, for now he was sure that he had found a real princess, and the pea was put into the Museum, where it may still be seen if no one has stolen it.
Now this is a true story.
Cinderella: The little black girl I use to be dreamt I would be like her someday and subliminally I think it did a number on me...
I have a love/hate relationship with my childhood toys, cartoons, etc because they kept me dreaming and entertained but they they did not represent for me at all and I was naive and ate it all up. Now, when I see or hear references to the likes of Cinderella a part of me is nostalgic and dreamy eyed but also teary eyed.
I love Disney...I hate Disney.
A snippet of an email from a dear friend of mine...
"...Nervous Conditions by Tsitsi Dangarembga. It's a fictional novel set in Zimbabwe about how nervous conditions in the form of neuroses, eating disorders, etc., manifest in the female characters because they are forced to repress so much oppression and injustice within their bodies, that the nervous conditions become a physical manifestation of that.I'm not saying that you or I have anxiety because of this reason, but it exists for a reason, I don't think it's a completely random disorder. I think social conditions and your gender, class, race, status have a lot to do with it..."
My friend is extremely intelligent and she always gives me a fresh perspective on issues and she did it again. I am definitely going to get this book and read it and let you all know what I thought.
